October 24, 2018, Jefferson, Iowa -- Midland Power Cooperative announced its board of directors has approved the construction of a new administrative office in Boone, Iowa.

Midland Power Cooperative announced its board of directors has approved the construction of a new administrative office in Boone, Iowa. The move marks an important milestone in the company’s history and signals Midland Power’s commitment to providing a high level of service to its members.  The location of the new, energy-efficient structure will improve office access to a large number of Midland Power members, as the Boone area has not previously had customer service representatives.

“We are excited that by expanding on our existing presence in the Boone area, we will increase our accessibility to a larger number of our members, and be able to better support our future growth in this area,” said Midland Power Board President Jack Runge. “Our expansion into Boone will see some of our office team transition from Jefferson, however both power line operations and customer services will be maintained in Jefferson.”

Forty-five percent of the cooperative’s membership is within twenty miles of Boone. The addition of an administrative office will allow the cooperative to enhance services and convenience to a large percentage of its membership. Increased access to workforce will be another advantage, as the cooperative will be able to draw from the Boone, Story and Greene County labor markets to meet its future workforce needs.

The new facility will be built with energy efficiency and sustainability in mind. The building will be equipped with a geothermal heating and cooling system, advanced lighting and energy conservation technology throughout. Construction is expected to start in the spring of 2019.

Midland Power has been working with Boone County economic development representatives on a location and will be making the site selection public in the near future. Open office hours and services, such as making payments and signing up for electric service will continue to be offered at the cooperative’s office in Jefferson.  Moreover, the cooperative will continue to have a line crew working out of its Jefferson Service Center.

Midland Power Cooperative serves 11,712 member businesses and households in seventeen Iowa counties. The cooperative’s headquarters office is located at 1005 E. Lincoln Way, Jefferson, Iowa.
