Pufferbilly Days ™ is BACK ON TRACK!
The Grand Marshal of the 2021 Pufferbilly Days ™ Parade is Sally Courter.
Sally was born and raised in Cedar Rapids. She attended the University of Iowa and
graduated with a double major – Psychology & Education.After having taught in Cedar
Rapids, she got married and moved to Boone.
Sally taught a 1st & 2nd grade combined class at Lincoln Elementary School. In addition, she
was an unpaid teacher’s aide at Page Elementary School for seven years – Kdg-6th grade.
She has been a member of DMACC’s Foundation Board for 20 years.
She is a 60-year member of the Boone First United Methodist Church. Besides serving on
several committees, she taught both Sunday School and Vacation Church School for several years.
She has always believed in volunteering. She thoroughly enjoyed being a Tour Guide at the
B&SVRR for 34 years, where she also served as Board President. (To this day, she is the
only female B&SVRR President). She was also President of the Mamie Doud Eisenhower
Birthplace and the United Way of Boone County.
At one time Sally also served as temporary Chairman of the Information Booth during
previous Pufferbilly Days Celebrations, for 13 years.
Besides these activities, Sally is a current member of the Boone County Historical Society
and DMACC Foundation Board, and a volunteer at the B&SVRR. She is also a member of
Chapter NP, PEO and was a long time member of Junior Monday Study Club.
